How to Send Mail

My address will remain the same throughout my service! I am close enough to the capital to continue using the Peace Corps address.

Letters

Be warned that this is literally snail mail...
Mailing from United States to Burkina Faso: 2-3 weeks
Mailing from Burkina Faso to United States: 2-4 weeks
(Though most of my letters reach CA within 2 weeks!)

Please DATE your letters. This will allow me to estimate how long it takes to receive your letters.
Please NUMBER your letters so that I know if I missed one.
Please write "PAR AVION" on your letters to ensure delivery by air.

Postcards should be sent in envelopes, otherwise they may be found on the wall of the local post office.

Packages

Update 7/23/2014 - Many volunteers successfully receive packages here! They've been taking anywhere from 2 - 4 weeks to arrive. Padded envelopes, small and large boxes, you name it, it's made it here!

USPS only!

Many current volunteers successfully receive intact packages by having the senders do the following:
  1. Write: "Dieu vous regarde." (God is watching you.)
  2. Write: "Que Dieu vous bénisse." (May God bless you.)
  3. Draw a cross on the package.
  4. For customs purposes, everything can be considered "educational materials."
